My practice has been located in the Palm Beach Health Centre since 2007.
I work from a biopsychosocial approach, individualising treatment with a combination of cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). I also teach biofeedback and mindfulness strategies.
Treatment sessions are generally 50 minutes and the number of sessions you will need to attend will depend on your presenting issue and progress in treatment. Coming to the first session can be nerve-wracking, especially if you have never seen a psychologist before, but I promise I don't bite!

The Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) recommend a fee of $300 per session. At Affinity Psychological Services, I strongly believe that everyone should be able to access psychological services, therefore my fee for the initial session is heavily discounted to $200 and followup sessions are discounted to $185 or free if referred through EAP, WorkCover, or Insurance.
You may be able to access up to 10 sessions per year that attract a Medicare rebate. If you have a current GP Mental Health Care Plan from your doctor, you may be entitled to an $93.35 Medicare rebate. Unfortunately, private health funds will not rebate the gap.
You can access up to three sessions per year relating to a current or recent pregnancy with a GP referral. You will be able to receive a $64.70 rebate. Unfortunately, private health funds will not rebate the gap.
You can access up to 40 sessions per year if you have been diagnosed with an Eating Disorder and have created a care plan with your GP with a referral for psychological treatment. The fee at the initial session is $200 and the fee for followup sessions is $185. You will be eligible to receive a $93.35 rebate. Unfortunately, private health insurers will not rebate the gap.
You can access this service with no medical referral. If you do so, you may be able to claim the cost on your private health cover (please check with your fund).
An employer can make a referral to us and cover the cost of services on behalf of their employees. The employer can elect to fund up to a specified monetary limit or nominate a certain number of appointments they wish to provide to support their employee. Any communication with the employer, including invoicing, can be managed to ensure client confidentiality is maintained. The employer will need to supply us with a written request to provide services to the employee.
Alternatively, if your employer is already contracted to an EAP provider, we may be able to provide services to you by sub-contracting to the contracted provider.
